Some people like to think the road was half empty and I almost ran people off the road. I prefer to think that it was half full and I still didn't hit anyone.Timehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07838683246636045823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7861874.post-1117688792770289342005-06-01T22:06:00.000-07:002005-06-01T22:06:00.000-07:00Harrowing experience to be sure. But then we haven't seen the final bill, yet.

If I was moving as far as you did, I'd likely take the lengths you did. But we are local nomads. Nice trick with lining the boxes with foam, however.

Shandi,

I would have let Tess drive, however, I am a gentleman and I'm not sure her feet would have reached the pedals. :)Timehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07838683246636045823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7861874.post-1117629514181768042005-06-01T05:38:00.000-07:002005-06-01T05:38:00.000-07:00Classic!!!I was holding my breath the whole time. ...Classic!!!
I was holding my breath the whole time. Glad to see it all turned out alright. Tess is wonderfully understanding not to beat the tar out of you. You should have let her drive :)Naughti Biscottihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11954505278010003963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7861874.post-1117590942861404572005-05-31T18:55:00.000-07:002005-05-31T18:55:00.000-07:00I will never do business with U-Haul. When the friend challenged the U-Haul employee he friend was told that "he couldn't prove anything." U-Haul's equipment is... well you found that out for yourself didn't you?

If you ever need to load a truck again here's some unsolicited advice:

Pack the boxes like you were sending them UPS with lots of good old cancer causing styrofoam. I've had good results by lining all my boxes with 1" styrofoam board that home improvement stores sell for insulation. Over the years the boxes will be kicked around as they are transfered from the garage to storage to wherever anyway so think of the extra work fitting the foam as a long term investment.

Palletize the boxes in the truck and then shrink wrap the hell out of everything. Make sure you tie down the pallets to keep them from shifting (rolling) around.

And the other drivers? Lay on your horn, lean out the window and chant in your loudest drunken frat boy war cry "DAR-WIN! DAR-WIN! DAR-WIN! WHOOOO!" It's survival of the fittest baby. You're a Man with a Truck and combined you've got a ton on almost everyone else on the road.

-RAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
