What's wrong with this picture?

First, I want to clarify that I despise the teletubbies. This has nothing to do with Jerry Falwell thinking Tinky Winky is gay because he is lavender. That's just dumb.

I don't like Barney either. But now it is cliche (or is it passe) not to like Barney.

But back to the teletubbies. I am convinced that they originally were the Banana Splits created by Hanna Barbera in 1968:

I am also convinced that the Banana Splits first evolved (or deevolved) into the 80s group DEVO:

Devo could only muster a couple of hit songs, so they drifted back to children's entertainment and became the teletubbies.

This is just my theory.

But I really don't like the teletubbies.

I actually had to look to find you in Devo. Finally found it!!! So.... now I'm imagining the obviously gay purple teletubbie singing "Whip it!". Classic!!!

Uuuuhhhhh yeah, everyone knows that wearing purple is a clear indicator of homosexuality. As my mother would tell you, it is a abomination to duplicate the scarlett robes worn by the prince of peace and is reserved only for the son of God. I'm not kidding. My mother does believe this particular teletubby to be gay and is appalled and angered to have them on public television. Everyone knows that Barney, also wearing purple is not only gay but is also a pedophile. However, anyone wearing purple and green in combination is schizophrenic.

Well, I'll be damned...literally. You learn something new every day. Guess I'll have to get rid of that purple tutu I'm fond of wearing around the house. I think I have some purple and green tights somewhere, too. And I always thought that Barney had shifty eyes for a cartoon dinosaur.

Purple was traditionally harder (and therefore more expensive) to manufacture than other colors, so for a thousand years in Europe purple was the color of royalty and worn almost exclusively by Kings and Queens (no double-entendre meant there with queen).

I'm curious what Prince (royalty) was trying to say with his album Purple (homosexual) Rain. Clearly a question for greater minds than I.

Actually, I find the child actors on Barney far more annoying than Barney himself. And if you want to talk about annoying (and gay) children's programs, have you ever seen the Doodlebops? Frightening image for young children.

iridethebus, thanks for the insight into the color purple...whoops, there was another reference.

Dear, Dear Jane: I would agree with you that the child actors are more annoying than Barney. But then again I find most child actors annoying. I haven't heard of the Doodlebops, but I can tell I don't like them either.
