I've never liked taking down Christmas trees. But unless you live in one of those year-round Christmas shops in Canada, you have to. If you've been following my blog religiously, you know we had two trees this year, my traditional Elvis tree decorated completely with Elvis themed decorations and our normal tree.
When we begin taking down our trees, Tess chose to play her Neil Diamond Christmas album. I pointed out that this was just wrong since Neil Diamond is Jewish and it seems hypocritical for him to be singing Joy to the World and Here Comes Santa Claus. But she likes Neil Diamond and it did add a sort of surreal touch to the whole taking the tree down drudgery.
I also decided to chronicle the whole experience. One, I've never done this before (film was pretty pricey) and two, I thought it would be fun to share with the blogger community what a day in my life is like. So here is my photo essay called, "Deconstructing the Elvis tree." Enjoy:

GREAT POST!!! Kind of sad! Do you miss your tree when it is gone?
The weather here has been rainy and gloomy so we have put away a total of 0 Christmas decorations. We have been sitting by the fire watching football and doing absolutely nothing (but blogging, hehe)
Thank you for sharing the experience of taking down your tree. Want to come take mine down? GRINZZZZZZ
I loved that tree. Fortunately K-mart builds them sturdy and it will be born again next holiday season.
It is pouring rain here, too. I watched the Seahawks lose to Greenbay yesterday and that was pretty much it for me and football until the Hawks are in the Superbowl.
I'd help you with your tree, but one of the resolutions I forgot to list was "I resolve only to take down one Christmas tree a year."
:)
And you did all this WITHOUT electrocuting yourself? DUDE!
I am what is considered a renaisance man. Shocking though it may seem.
As a great psychiatrist peels away the many layers of the human brain to reveal the empty space that is the human mind, you have cast aside the bonds of holiday retail madness to dismantle a symbol of marketing brilliance in exchange for the simple pleasure of knowing you have a year before you have to endure this again. By the way, I am still completely wasted from the whole New Year’s thing. Please excuse my blather. Have an Awesome and Very Happy New Year.
You know Mickey, now that you mention it, that is exactly what I was trying to capture. At least I think it was.
You look great in that white tree tutu. Did you put the purple one away for the holidays?
Nice photo SEQUENCE. But... I'd prefer one of you in SEQUINS. :)
Ha, ha, ha, ha...sequins. I get it! But it ain't gonna happen. Despite the Michael's predictions, I'm Tim-Elvis the 68 comeback years, not Tim-Elvis the Vegas jumpsuit years.
That was such a cute post! And the cat adding the perfect touch. Loved the tree and your wonderful Elvis portrayal "deconstructing" it and making it a fun thing! i'm saddened though that you only take down one a year. i sure coulda used some help with mine!
Love & Peace,
~gina~
Gina,
Glad you liked the taking down of the Elvis tree. Keliki, the cat, directed himself as cats will do. Guesee you and cherish will just have to take your own trees down and blog about them. :)
