Father Time

"Time keeps on slippin, slippin
Into the future."
--Steve Miller

I realize the passing of a year is an artificial event. Our current calendars are based on the whimsey of Pope Gregory who messed with creating a new one a few centuries ago. I guess he had too much time on his hands.

But the point is, time doesn't really pass. We do.

Still, every new year is an opportunity to reflect on the flow of time. I just wish I could ride on the river of time instead of letting it wash over me, bleaching my beard and hair.

I am not really an old man. But sometimes I think old thoughts. And that is what truly ages us. We age ourselves with our wrinkled thoughts.

So I am going to walk into 2007 with a resolution of thinking young thoughts. And the mirror can go to hell.

Hayden,
You've never heard of a wrinkle in time? It's old news.

Thinking young thoughts? Give us an example or two, eh sonny?

I am going to adopt your New Year's approach and think young thoughts as well. Now, if that could only translate into a younger skin too....

My first young thought of the new year is already being crushed by my old subconcious saying, "Act your age."

They ain't wrinkles, there laugh lines and by the look you have had a lot to laugh about.
Oh and those grey hairs?
They are silver streaks and it has taken a long time to get em right.

As for thinking young thoughts, I revert to my first inTIMate encounter.
I would like to say she was beautiful but she was ugly, I was legless, I met her in a pub and the deed was done in the back of a ute.

Kristy,
Knock, knock...

Miss Bliss,
As long as you are acting, you can act any age you choose.

Whitesnake,
Whatever you said it's TMI.

THE Michael,
That's...oh nevermind.
